GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—Student filmmakers are getting ready for the final round of the 2014 Bishop Baraga Film Festival Competition.

Students in grades 8-12 submitted short videos about their Catholic faith.   The competition has been whittled down to ten finalists from four districts.  During Champions Night on May 13, their films will grace the big screen at Celebration Cinema North in Grand Rapids.    A panel of judges will pick the top three films, which will receive cash prizes. The grand prize is $2,000.

The ten finalists include:

  • Amazing Grace-  St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo
  • Behold the Truth-  Portland St. Patrick Catholic School, Portland
  • Refuge of Truth- Saint Isidore Catholic Church, Grand Rapids
  • The Messenger- All Saints Catholic Church, Fremont
  • The Truth of the Church- St. Philip, Battle Creek
  • Searching for Truth - St. Ann Catholic Church, Kalamazoo
  • Foundation of Truth-  Saint Michael’s and St. Mary’s, Marne
  • Magisterium P.I. - West Catholic High School, Grand Rapids
  • Coming Home - St. Joseph, St. Joseph
  • Snowshoe Priest - Sacred Heart of Jesus, Grand Rapids
