GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—A group of local restaurants are joining the effort to ensure veterans get a chance to see their war memorials in our nation’s capitol.

Seven area Culver’s restaurants will host fundraisers Tuesday, May 20 for the Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit group that transports veterans to the national monuments.  Ten percent of sales on May 20 will go toward the effort.

“We’re happy for the opportunity to support the Honor Flight network and we hope our guests will too,” says Craig Culver, co-founder of the restaurant chain. “Men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom are true heroes,” added Culver.

Participating restaurants are:

  • Culver's of Comstock Park, located at 4280 Alpine Ave.
  • Culver's of Grand Haven, located at 520 A-Way Drive
  • Culver's of Grand Rapids, located at 6300 28th Street SE
  • Culver's of Grand Rapids, located at 2510 East Beltline SE
  • Culver's of Holland, located at 3035 West Shore Drive
  • Culver's of Jenison, located at 7393 Cottonwood Drive
  • Culver's of Wyoming, located at 245 54th Street SW

The Honor Flight network has been sponsoring trips for veterans since 2004.  The organization gives top priority to older and terminally ill veterans who have yet to see the monuments created in their honor.

Talons Out Honor Flight Hub is the Southwest Michigan hub of the Honor Flight Network.  On May 31, the group will fly 75 World War II veterans out to the national memorials. Talons Out Hub is also hosting a community viewing of “Honor Flight: The Movie” free to the public at Kalamazoo's Wings Stadium on May 31 at 6 p.m.
