Hazardous waste collection day | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Kent County's Household Hazardous Waste Program is working with Cascade and Ada Townships to sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, July 14. Ada and Cascade Township residents will be invited to Cascade Buttrick Station, located at 2990 Buttrick Ave. SE, to dispose of their household chemical waste.
Unused or unwanted paint thinner, antifreeze, gasoline, oil-based paint, weed killers, bug sprays, wood preservatives, pool chemicals, deck cleaners, fluorescent light bulbs, and mercury thermometers will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Some materials that residents will not be able to dispose of include latex paint, medical waste, pharmaceuticals, ammunition, and fireworks.
Kentwood, Rockford, and Grand Rapids have all held their own collection days earlier this summer and, along with Wyoming, still have collection days to come.
Since this hazardous waste collection day is only open to Ada and Cascade Township residents, a driver's license or proof of residency will be required. For more information, visit www.recyclekent.org.
