Ada and Cascade homes burglarized

The Kent County Sheriff's Department East Precinct is investigating a home burglary in Ada and an attempted home invasion in Cascade. 

An Ada Township resident reported returning home with his family and discovered his garage service door had been kicked in and many valued jewels and electronics had been stolen.  The home is located at 4900 block of Spring Ridge Dr in Ada.  The break-in took place between January 14 and 17 according to deputies. 

An attempted break-in occurred in the 6200 Blk of Cascade Road SE in Cascade Township. This occurred between January 13 and 14.  Someone attempted to force open the access door to the garage at this address, but it appears the suspect did not make entry into the home.

Both investigations are ongoing.

CASCADE, MI - The Kent County Sheriff’s Department continues to seek leads in connection with two break-ins at a Cascade apartment complex in late November.  Two units, next door to one another, were broken into at the Cascade Villa Apartments at 6700 Cascade Road, according to the East Precinct of the Sheriff’s department. 

The thief apparently entered through the front door, which was accessed through a common area hallway. Pry marks where observed on one door and electronics were taken, according to deputies.  The investigation is ongoing, and there are no leads or suspects at this time.

 

Vandals target mailboxes in Cascade

Cascade, MI - Vandals damaged multiple mailboxes in Cascade Township this week, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Department.  The damage occured during the late night and early morning hours of November 16 and 17.  Damaged mail boxes were discovered on the following blocks:

3600 block Goodwood

3800 block Goodwood

6400 block Ridgemont

7000 block Maplecrest

1500 block Hillsboro

 

 

Two Cascade home invasions in two days

Cascade Township has had two home invasions in the same neighborhood in two days, according to Julie Vogelzang of the East Precinct of the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.  This occurred in the Burton Pointe Association located in the northeast corner of the Burton and Spaulding intersection.  The development is accessed off of both Burton and Spaulding.

The first incident occurred on November 14 between the hours of 4:30 pm and 7:15 pm near the 2300 block of Burton Pointe Blvd.  The house was entered by force by breaking a window.   Multiple items of value were taken.   Volgelzang says there are no suspects or leads at this time.

The second incident occurred on November 15 around 4:30 pm also near the 2300 block of Burton Point Blvd.   This second residence was entered by force by breaking a large glass door.

Thieves are targeting vehicles in Ada area

ADA, Mich. - The East Precinct of the Kent County Sheriff department is warning residents to lock their vehicles.  There has been a rash of thefts from unlocked vehicles in recent weeks.  Last week, there were five separate thefts reported just off Ada Drive in the Highbury Street and Longwood Court neighborhoods.  The thieves took MP3 players and laptops.  Anyone with information is asked to call the East Precinct at 632-6394
