Discovery Days at Ada Township Park begin Dec. 11

ADA TOWNSHIP, Mich.—Discovery Days at Ada Township Park are here.

Parents and pre-schoolers are invited to experience a morning of nature study, hands-on activities and games.  Participants should come dressed for the weather, since some of the programs include outdoor activities.

  • Nature Prepares for Winter (Wednesday, Dec. 11 or Thursday, Dec. 12)                                                 Learn how animals, birds and trees prepare for the cold Michigan winter.  Take a walk in the park and then make a pine cone bird feeder to take home for the birds in your backyard.
  • Snowflakes and Snowballs (Wednesday, Jan. 15 or Thursday, Jan. 16)                                                 Look at snowflakes and see how they are alike and different.  Take a walk outside to look for animal tracks.  Make your own beaded snowflake to take home.
  • Tracks…who walked here? (Wednesday, Feb. 5 or Thursday, Feb. 6)                                                   Look at different animal tracks and try to discover what animal made them and what that animal was doing.  Make some cool tracks of your own as you run, walk and jump through the park trails.

Each program is $5 per child.  Pre-registration is encouraged.  To register, call (616) 676-0520 or email mfitzpatrick@adatownshipmi.com.
