Registrations are open for Summer Youth Programs and the Kids’ Garden:

Summer is coming and registration for Ada Parks Summer Youth Programs and Kids’ Garden are open! Nine weeks of summer programs are offered starting June 16 and continuing through August 13. There will be 3-day camp adventures for ages 6-11 with exciting themes such as "Arts in the Park", "Sports Spectacular", "Eyes on Survival" and others. Half-day programs for ages 3-11 include biking and fishing days as well as "Wiggly Worms" and "Water Fun" programs for pre-schoolers and parents.

NEW this summer are Outdoor Adventure programs for ages 10 – 13. "Water Eco-Adventure" camp offers 3 days of exploring west Michigan’s amazing water ecosystems. Youth will travel to different locations to explore streams, rivers, ponds, and wetlands while they bike, hike, canoe and learn as they go. Half-day programs include a canoe trip down the Thornapple and Grand Rivers and an Adventure Race where teams run, bike, and solve challenges at checkpoints throughout Ada Park and the Grand River Natural Area.

The Ada Kids’ Garden program meets Tuesdays from April through September. Kids will learn good gardening techniques, and get their hands dirty as they plant and weed their own garden and then sell their produce at the Ada Farmers Market.

Road Closers:

Mark your calendars for these upcoming events with will have road closures in Ada.

6:00 p.m. Saturday June 13 through 6:00 p.m. Sunday June 14; The intersection of Thornapple River Drive and Buttrick Drive will be closed. The Grand Rapids Triathlon will be on Sunday June and will effect both of those roads. Ada Park and Leonard Field Park will not be accessible on Sunday.

8:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Saturday, June 20; Thornapple River Drive at Ada Drive and down to Camp Twins will be closed for the DeVos Children’s Hospital, "Run-4-A-Cause" event. That event is based at Leonard Field Park so the park will be full most of the day.

Project Updates:

*Ada Park gravel paving lot off of Grand River Drive will be paved this spring with mort of the work done in May. This will also connect the bike path. We will have some restoration work alongside of it (fence repair, lawn and woodlot repairs …) once the construction phase is done.

*Carl Creek Crossing Preserve off of Grand River Drive will have trail development, boardwalks and bridge construction this spring. Later this summer and next fall we will work on removing woody invasive shrubs.

*The Roselle Park Resource Building project is getting closer to a reality. The project details go to the Ada Township Board for approval for go out to bid on April 27th. Potential of starting the project in August.

Ada Park Shelter Reservations

Many dates are already reserved for the Shelter in Ada Township Park. If you still wish to reserve it for this spring, summer or fall, please contact us soon on availability.
