GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Police arrested a passenger at Gerald R. Ford International Airport after Transportation Security Administration officers discovered a loaded gun in the passenger's luggage.
The Taurus Millennium .40 cal handgun was discovered early Monday morning in a passenger's carry-on bag at Concourse A. Airport police were notified, took possession of the firearm and arrested the passenger.
Airport officials say firearms may be transported in checked baggage, if they are declared, but they are prohibited in carry-on bags.

"Transportation Security Officers work each day to keep the traveling public safe and ensure the highest level of aviation security," said Jim Fotenos, TSA Spokesman. "The discovery by officers at GRR is a testament to their training and a fine example of the great work they do every day. The majority of guns and other prohibited items discovered at airport security checkpoints are brought inadvertently. Passengers are reminded to check their bags before leaving for the airport."
