Dairy goat convention coming to Cascade in fall 2011

CASCADE, Mich. (WZZM) - The Crowne Plaza Hotel on 28th St. may be hosting a Dairy Goat Convention later this year. The event would take place October 15th to October 22nd in the hotel's parking lot, according to organizers.

Organizers approached the Cascade Charter Township Wednesday night asking how to go about obtaining a permit for the event.

If a permit is approved, organizers say the Dairy Goat Convention would attract nearly 500 people.

It is time to license your dog

It is time to license your dog

CASCADE, MI - Cascade Township officials say it is time to license dogs.  Michigan law requires that all dogs over the age of four months must be licensed.  Proof of rabies vaccination and neutering from your veterinarian are required to obtain a license.

The cost of a dog license doubles after March 1, 2011.  Neutered dog licenses are $11.00 and unaltered is $24.00.  Senior citizens get a discount, so licenses cost $6.00 for neutered and $12.00 for unaltered dogs.

Licenses may only be purchased at the Kent County Animal Shelter at 740 Fuller Avenue NE in Gand Rapids in person or by mail.  For more information call 616-632-7300.
