Major playground improvements coming to Ada Township Park

Major playground improvements coming to Ada Township Park

ADA, Mich. (WZZM) - Ada Township Park is about to get a major face-lift. The Township plans to spend an estimated $150,000 to make improvements that will make the park safer and more inclusive.

The plan was approved by the Township Board last week. Included in the renovations will be a more user-friendly environment, allowing children with different abilities to play together.

Ada Park & Recreation officials say the specification process will start in April, with bids going out as early as May and renovation construction to be completed by fall 2011.

After years of waiting, Community Foundation finally brings community message board to Cascade

After years of waiting, Community Foundation finally brings community message board to Cascade

CASCADE, Mich. (WZZM) - Are you often wondering what's going on in the Cascade community? Well, after a decade-long debate, that question can now be answered by simply driving past the new message board at 6750 Cascade Road.

Community events are often centered near the Cascade Branch of the Kent District Library, which borders 28th St., and sometimes in the "village" area where old 28th Street ends at Cascade Road.

The community sign became a reality for the Cascade Community Foundation when it partnered with Independant Bank.

A ten day lead time is appreciated for community announcements.

If you have Cascade-related events that you'd like to be displayed on the message board, you're encouraged to call 616-949-2189 to submit a request.

Master Plan for Ada's Roselle Park to be Updated

Master Plan for Ada's Roselle Park to be Updated

ADA, Mich. (WZZM) - The Ada Township Board has approved a plan to update Roselle Park's master plan, as recommended by the Township Parks and Recreation Committee.

Parks director Mark Fitzpatrick asked the board to approve a maximum $5,000 expenditure which would pay for the hiring of design develpoment contractors who would provide the township with an updated plan.

The firm is set to meet with township officials to review the current plan and gather input for an update, show some preliminary drawings, and also bring some estimates for costs.

The goal is to begin a redesign for the park no later than April 1 of this year. Currently, there are two different proposed layouts for the park up for discussion.
