CASCADE, MI - All sorts of construction projects are underway in Cascade Township near the intersection of Kraft Avenue and 28th Street SE.

Goodwill Industries will open its 16th store in the area in July, which will add 20 jobs.  The non-profit organization plans to occupy nearly 15,000 square feet in a new building under construction at 2700 Kraft Avenue SE.  The store will sell gently-used goods and will also take donations.

Next door, L2 Advisors, a financial planning firm, plans to move into a building that is being remodeled at 2674 Kraft Avenue SE.

Across the street, three buildings are under construction near the Cascade Meijer store at the former Shang Hai restaurant site.  The buildings will house a Wendy’s restaurant, Qdoba Mexican Grill, and space for a smaller retailer.

The Lakes at Knapp project put on hold in Grand Rapids Township

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - Preliminary proposals for "The Lakes at Knapp" North and South near the intersection of Knapp and Mcguire will have to wait for approval.

The Grand Rapids Township Planning Commission have tabled requests for developers who are working together to develop the two housing divisions on the 80-acre parcel.

The current plan has been cut down from a proposal calling for 230 homes late last year, and now includes plans for Ada Bible Church to construct a new facility on the 18 acres fronting the two streets.

Developers are asking for PUD approval for 107 single-family homes.

Planners hoped to have the Township Board consider the church proposal at the same time as they addressed the proposal by the developers, but had too many unanswered questions at their meeting this past week.

If the property is no longer your principal resident, you must file a Request to Rescind Homeowner’s Principal Resident Exemption.  You can get both forms from your city or township.

ADA, Mich. (WZZM) - Ada Bible Church is looking to build a third facility in Grand Rapids Township. The Church already has a facility on Cascade Road that is home to more than 5,000 members, as well as an additional 1,200 member satellite Church in Kentwood.

Plans for a 750-seat sanctuary were recently formally presented to the township planning commission.

The nearly 19-acre parcel eyed for the project is located at the intersection of Knapp Avenue, McGuire Street, and Knapp Court.

Planners say one of the biggest issues with the area is the lack of sewer infrastructure. Developers say they will keep their options open, which may include working with some property owners located further north.

Officials from the Church are anxious for the process to proceed so they've asked the planning commission if they could be placed on April's agenda for the required public hearing.
