Ada Vista Elementary School receives Evergreen Award

Ada Vista Elementary School receives Evergreen Award

ADA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - Ada Vista Elementary School has been honored with a prestigious honor. The Spanish immersion institution has been chosen as the 2011 "Green Schools Program" Evergreen Award.

To win this award, Ada Vista had to meet all 20 criteria specified under a state law creating the state's Green Schools program.

According to school officials, the students at Ada Vista formed a club called Club Verde (Club Green) which has raised $720 by recycling.

Also, through an aggressive energy conservation campaign, the district has saved about $3 million the past five school years.

While all 18 of the Kent Intermediate School District buildings qualified for this award, Ada Vista was the only one to meet all 20 criteria set forth by the state.
