GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) - Trans Siberian Orchestra meets Forest Hills Northern. In a way, that's what's going to happen early next month when the 186-member FHN orchestra performs in a public concert with international recording artist Mark Wood.

Wood is one of the original members of the multi-platinum-selling Trans Siberian Orchestra and the creator of the Viper electric violin. Wood works to inspire young string players with a groundbreaking music education program, Electrify Your Strings.

Wood will perform with the FHN orchestra at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 5 at the Fine Arts Center, 600 Forest Hill Ave.

During the concert, Wood will perform on his handcrafted 7-string fretted Viper violin and is expected to help transform student musicians into a full-fledged rock orchestra.

The FHN orchestra has received Wood's music arrangements and is currently rehearsing for the performance.
