27 Dresses Anyone?

27 Dresses Anyone?

Do you have a closet full of beautiful gowns from years past of school dances and bridesmaid ventures just like Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses? What do you do with your old frocks? Do you give it to your little sister, a cousin, or your niece? What about a friend? Can you reuse it or remake it into another dress? Sometimes they just seem to sit in the closet forever until they are finally thrown away or donated to your local charitable thrift store. But what about girls that can’t afford to buy fancy couture — even a gown in a second-hand store?

One in four women in America will be the victim of domestic violence and  victims often find themselves without basic resources. Five years after helping launch the Movers for Moms® program to collect essential supplies for moms living in domestic abuse or homeless shelters on Mother’s Day, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® of Grand Rapids announced the introduction of the Moving Moms Forward initiative.

The Moving Moms Forward initiative is the logical evolution of Movers for Moms® from a short-term assistance program to a long-term sustainability solution.

Cascade's Windsor Cottage Starts 2nd Shop in East Hills

The quaint century-old cottage that has been Windsor Cottage (2899 Thornapple River Dr. SE, Grand Rapids) for the past 26 years overflows with gently-used home accessories and luxury furniture. That fact, and a booming global Internet business, inspired owner Rick Santamaria to open a second location in a historic English Tudor mansion between Brewery Vivant and Maru Sushi & Grill.

The mansion (923 Cherry St. SE) was built originally as a funeral home and is part of a project by Grand Rapids-based Locus Development to revitalize the mansion, a chapel and carriage house next door (Brewery Vivant), and to add new construction (Maru Sushi).
