ADA, Mich.—The fire engine donated by the Village of Ada is now stationed at its new home in Abbott, Texas.
After the village received a new fire engine, the fire department asked to donate the old one to the Abbott Fire Department, which lost its fire truck during the deadly fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas.
On Wednesday, August 21, a team from the Ada Fire Department began driving the old engine down to Abbott. The firefighters finally arrived at the station this weekend, after visiting Ada, Oklahoma, the Oklahoma City memorial, the Dallas Fire Department and the St. Louis arch.
Ada firefighters raised more than $12,000 for the trip and new equipment for the fire engine by selling custom shirts. They arrived home by air on Sunday.
